Schwabing, with its beautiful turn of the century buildings and less attractive post-war buildings in between, used to be the bohemian side of town. The estate Alte Heide was completed in 1928 and was designed as a residential park. Most of the buildings were built in Historicist and Art Nouveau style. One special feature of the estate is the orientation of the buildings: The orientation perpendicular to the access streets allows for an even distribution of sun, thereby avoiding the disadvantages of apartment blocks. There are also many green, park-like spaces between the buildings. The settlement character also means that most stores for your everyday needs can be found in the immediate vicinity. The English Garden is also not far from Alte Heide. Münchner Freiheit, a social and night life hub of the city, is also a few minutes on foot away. In general, Alte Heide offers a rather quiet living environment, despite the proximity to the city center and the good connection to the outskirts of Munich, both of which can be reached in a matter of minutes via U-Bahn line U6 at the station Alte Heide.
