At the beginning, the opening of the airport was a major upheaval for the municipality, which was accompanied by the relocation of some parts of the community. Over the years, however, the town benefited considerably and grew both through residential and commercial development. Oberding now has a population of around 6900.
The municipality has its own day nurseries, an elementary school and a secondary school directly in the town. There is also a lively club culture, a community library, a fitness park and numerous restaurants and hotels.
The town's convenient location is enhanced by two nature reserves and the Sempt and Dorfen rivers. The bus network in the town is well developed and you can also quickly reach the A92 or A94 by car. An S-Bahn station "Schwaig-Nord" for the S1/S8 and S6 lines is planned.
