7 tips to avoid mold and moisture damage in your apartment
Especially in the cold season the apartments are vulnerable to moisture damage. Not only can this be expensive, but it may also affect your health. To avoid this, we have put together 7 tips for you:
1. open windows wide in the morning and evening and wipe off wet windows
Open all windows at the same time for 2-3 minutes to create a draught. Please do not just tilt the windows, as this prevents proper air exchange and the moisture remains in the home. If windows and window sills are wet, dry them.
2. do not cover heaters
Make sure the room temperature in the living area is between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. To ensure that the heating works properly, it should not be covered by curtains or furniture.
3. leave a gap between furniture and outside walls
Keep a distance between the outside wall and the furniture so that the warm room air can also circulate properly in this area and the outside walls do not become too cold.
4. take off wet shoes in the entrance area
Take off wet shoes in the entrance area so that the floor in the apartment does not become damp and cause damage.
5. do not open the dishwasher immediately after finishing
Do not open the dishwasher immediately after finishing the program, but keep it closed for approx. 30 minutes so that the steam does not escape from the machine into the home.
6. switch on the extractor hood while cooking
Switch on the extractor hood when cooking and then ventilate by opening the windows fully.
7. ventilate thoroughly after showering
Check that the fans in the bathroom are working properly. Open the windows after showering and dry the tiles and glass partitions carefully.
