The Alte Heide district is located north of Munich's Schwabing district and south of the so-called Studentenstadt. The estate was completed in 1928 and is laid out as a garden residential park. The estate's residential character also means that most stores for daily needs are in the immediate vicinity. There is also a crèche on the estate, which makes it very attractive for young families. The English Garden is also not far from Alte Heide and can be reached on foot in just a few minutes. In general, Alte Heide is a fairly quiet residential area despite its proximity to the city center and good connections to Munich's outlying districts. Most of the buildings were built in the historicist and art nouveau styles.
