The Via Julia, an important trade route that connected Augsburg and Salzburg, allowed Gilching to rapidly gain importance. The town can also look forward to more growth in the near future: The nearby special-purpose airport Oberpfaffenhofen will be opened to business travelers, thereby adding to the towns significance. The leisure facilities are rounded off by a variety of associations and a large DAV climbing facility. The motorway A96 allows for easy access from Gilching to long-distance transport. Furthermore, the town is connected to the S-Bahn line S8 via the stations Geisenbrunn, Gilching-Argelsried, and Neugilching, where trains to Munich and the surrounding region run every 20 minutes.

The village is also attractive for families, as it has several primary schools, a secondary school and a grammar school. In addition, there are a number of small lakes nearby, which serve as recreational areas. Here tenants will find furnished apartments in a quiet location and close to nature. Similarly nice offers for temporary living are also available in Germering, Puchheim and Fürstenfeldbruck.

Unfurnished apartments can be found on Immoscout24 (unfortunately only in German language). The Immoscout24 app, is also available in English.
