Türkenfeld
Türkenfeld is located in the greater Munich area around 7 km north of the beautiful Ammersee lake. The community has around 3900 inhabitants and celebrated its 1250th birthday in 1999.
Geologically speaking, Türkenfeld and the entire district is an extremely interesting area. Due to its beautiful location and high recreational value, the town has become a popular and attractive residential area. There are childcare facilities, a primary and secondary school, as well as numerous sports and leisure clubs.
The municipality has experienced rapid development in recent decades. Numerous refugees and displaced persons have found a new home here. Commercial and retail businesses have also been established. Between 1972 and 1980, Türkenfeld was the seat of an administrative community with Kottgeisering, Grafrath and Schöngeising. However, Türkenfeld has been an independent municipality again since 1980.
Every year on December 31, the New Year's Eve ride is held. The custom goes back to a vow made on the occasion of a cattle epidemic in 1807. On Ascension Day, a pilgrimage is made to Andechs Monastery.
The surrounding towns of Geltendorf, Gilching and Inning also have good offers for temporary accommodation.
