Planegg
Planegg is located in the district of Munich and is explicitly described by the district as a municipality in a charming landscape shaped by the Würm river. At the same time, the town is very close to Munich. This is crucial for the residential perspective: Planegg is a residential community close to the city without appearing like a dense inner-city area.
According to the district, the townscape is primarily characterized by green residential areas with detached and semi-detached houses, a few apartment buildings and a lively shopping mile in the Zentrum.
Planegg is also significantly shaped by the Martinsried district. Research, teaching and biotechnology are concentrated there in an unusually high density.
The municipality describes the Martinsried campus with 3,500 students and a strong focus on life sciences; the IZB currently has 60 biotech companies with over 600 employees. It is precisely this combination of a residential community and a strong knowledge location that makes Planegg particularly interesting from a residential perspective.
From a residential and orientation perspective, Planegg is often perceived together with Krailling, Gräfelfing, Gauting and Neuried. This also makes sense for the internal linking logic: These places are located in the same extended residential and commuting area southwest of Munich and are often thought of together in the MVV environment and in the Würmtal. Planegg is particularly well placed in comparison with these neighbors: a Würmtal community close to the city with a stronger connection to research than many of its direct neighbors.
From a residential perspective, Planegg is particularly interesting for people who are looking for more peace and greenery, but do not want to do without urban infrastructure. The district describes the municipality as a place to live with green neighborhoods and a lively shopping mile; this is precisely what creates a residential profile that is family-friendly, suitable for everyday use and deliberately less dense than Munich. Planegg is therefore not just a dormitory community, but a place with its own Zentrum and high usability in everyday life.
What's more, the Martinsried district lends additional strength to the overall profile. With the university, the Biomedical Center and the IZB, an environment is being created there that also makes Planegg interesting for science-related, international and professionally mobile target groups. For many households, it is precisely this combination that is decisive: living quietly but close to research, jobs and science. This is not a given in the Munich area.
Typical target groups in Planegg are, for example:
| To the center (Marienplatz) | To the central station | To the airport |
|---|---|---|
| 15,3 km | 12,8 km | 50,8 km |
The weekly markets in Pl anegg and Martinsried are particularly important landmarks for everyday life in Planegg. They strengthen the local supply, make the town centers lively and fit in well with a residential location that is more about functioning local centers than large shopping areas.
Planegg is also close to everyday life and versatile in terms of gastronomy. The municipality refers to restaurants in Würmtal, food truck locations and the importance of gastronomy for attractive town centers, which fits in well with the lively but not over-excited character of the town.
Planegg is particularly attractive for families. The municipality has two elementary school and a grammar school, as well as the family center on the Würm; in addition, there are a variety of leisure activities, clubs, youth activities and the direct connection to the Würm as a scenic open space.
