This district is home to the Theresienwiese, where the world-famous Oktoberfest is celebrated every year alongside the Spring Festival or the Winter Tollwood. Ludwigsvorstadt is also home to the main train station, which is the city's most important hub for national and international transportation. It is complemented by the central bus station at Hackerbrücke, just one S-Bahn stop away from the main station. There are also numerous stores, restaurants and even a club here. Many university hospital buildings are located between Goetheplatz and Sendlinger Tor. Especially during the Oktoberfest, this otherwise quiet district is teeming with visitors. But the nearby Theresienwiese is also worth a visit away from the big events: numerous flea markets and smaller events take place here throughout the year. Theresienwiese is also home to the statue of Bavaria, the symbolic patron saint of Bavaria, which can even be entered during the day. The lack of green spaces in Ludwigsvorstadt is compensated for by its proximity to the city center and a wide range of cinemas, museums, theaters and, above all, a large variety of restaurants.
