Location and connections
The Untermenzing district is located in the far north-west of Munich and stretches mostly along the Würm river. The Allach Lohe to the northeast is a beautiful wooded area that is also used as a local recreation area. Despite its quiet location on the outskirts of Munich, Untermenzing is well connected to public transport: the Allach stop on the S2 line connects the district with both Munich city center and the more distant suburbs. The district is also well connected to long-distance traffic thanks to the nearby München-West freeway junction.
Development
The district has retained some of its village-like appearance in places, which contributes to a comparatively quiet residential area. The parts of Untermenzing west of the Würm in particular are among the most upmarket residential areas in Munich. The development in this district, which still has a rural feel to it in places, consists mainly of detached houses with small gardens. To the west, the development is more relaxed with larger green spaces.
