Neuried
Neuried is located in the district of Munich and borders Planegg to the west, the Munich borough of Hadern to the north, the borough of Thalkirchen-Obersendling-Forstenried-Fürstenried-Solln to the east and the area of Forst Kasten to the south. The municipality has a population of 9,062 inhabitants in 2025, an altitude of 559 m above sea level and an area of 9.63 km². This is an attractive combination for prospective residents: you live right on the edge of Munich, but at the same time with a strong connection to open space and a much quieter townscape.
Hadern, Fürstenried, Planegg, Lochham and Gauting are particularly relevant for orientation. It is precisely this neighborhood that makes Neuried suitable for everyday use: Munich is right next door, while the axes to Würmtal and the south-western surrounding area are also within easy reach. Planegg, Gräfelfing, Forstenried and Großhadern are therefore particularly suitable for internal links.
Neuried is a place that combines rural living with proximity to Munich. This basic direction is correct, but today the residential area is much more differentiated than the current brief description suggests: Neuried has developed into an independent residential community with a functioning everyday life, established infrastructure and stable family logic. At the same time, according to municipal documents, the town has never lost its village character.
Neuried is particularly plausible for families. Official documents list four children's houses, a kindergarten, an elementary school with all-day classes, lunchtime supervision and after-school care. On its education page, the municipality also lists the Neuried elementary school, after-school care, MITTI lunchtime care, the Neuried music school and secondary schools in the nearby area such as Fürstenried-West grammar school, Joseph-von-Fraunhofer school and Gauting state secondary school. From a residential perspective, this means that Neuried is not a great educational location, but a place with a very solid family and school structure.
Neuried is particularly interesting for:
| To the center (Marienplatz) | To the central station | To the airport |
|---|---|---|
| 12,3 km | 10,7 km | 48,8 km |
For Neuried, it is not large-scale shopping that is decisive, but a functioning town center with local supply. Neuried's weekly market on the market square fits in with this, and business development projects also deliberately highlight the town center as a lively meeting place together with local traders.
Neuried's gastronomy is also more local than trendy. The weekly market already brings together regional products and delicacies, and at the village festival, Neuried's gastronomy is explicitly visible as part of local life.
Neuried is particularly well positioned for families. The municipality has four children's homes, a kindergarten, elementary school with all-day classes, after-school care and lunchtime supervision; there are also playgrounds, vacation activities, a youth center and a wide range of sports and leisure activities around the TSV, skate park and BMX course.
