Development
The Westend is a popular district. In this district there are predominantly larger , simple apartment buildings, many of which date back to the turn of the last century and are listed buildings. The Westend is particularly popular with students, but is also becoming increasingly attractive due to the gradual upgrading of the district.
Infrastructure
In addition to the business park with the technology center, there are many commercial and service businesses, especially along the S-Bahn line in the north of Westend. The central sights are the Augustiner Bräu building, the oldest brewery in Munich, the former main customs office and Bavariapark. The beautiful Bavariapark offers opportunities to relax and, with its spacious green areas, is ideal for picnics when the English Garden seems too far away. The Schwanthalerhöhe can be reached quickly from Westend and with it the Theresienwiese, which is not only home to the Oktoberfest, but also to the spring festival, the winter Tollwood, as well as numerous smaller and larger flea markets and open-air events. The district is known for relatively little traffic, but still offers good and above all fast connections from Westend to the city center thanks to the Schwanthalerhöhe U4 stop.
