History of Eichenau
Eichenau is located approx. 20km west of Munich's Zentrum. The community was founded in the 20th century. Its proximity to the railroad line to Munich was decisive for the development of the settlement. Until the 1950s, Eichenau was a well-known peppermint growing area and the local peppermint museum in the former municipal library is still a reminder of this today. In 1957, Eichenau became an independent municipality after being separated from Alling.
Infrastructure
The village is dominated by beautiful detached houses, semi-detached houses and terraced houses. Families in particular appreciate Eichenau for its good schools and wide range of leisure activities, such as a beach volleyball court, a large tennis court and a skate park. The city center of Munich can be easily reached within 30 minutes by S-Bahn S2 .
