Location and infrastructure
In no other place in Munich is the transition between city and nature as fluid as in Thalkirchen. The district is probably best known for its zoo: Hellabrunn Zoo, which is located not far from Thalkirchen subway station and attracts numerous visitors from Munich and the surrounding area every year, especially in summer. Around the naturalized zoo there are also the Flaucher parks, which, in addition to the Isar beaches, offer numerous sports facilities, a kiosk and even a beer garden for relaxation. Stores for daily needs and a few cafés are usually within walking distance. The Maria Einsiedel natural swimming pool is also just a few hundred meters to the south. This is also where the Isar weir is located, and Thalkirchen is slowly moving towards the suburbs.
Development
Since the 1980s, the attractiveness of the district has been improved by redevelopment measures and a more friendly architectural style. As a result, some of the nicest places to live can be found here. The actual residential areas are located around the Thalkirchen subway station, where the U3 line provides a quick and easy connection to the city center.
There are similarly beautiful offers close to nature in Harlaching and Solln.
