Lochhausen - village charm and yet close to the city
Lochhausen's history
The small village is mainly surrounded by agricultural land and farms. The village itself is one of the oldest settlements in the region: the first finds date back to 1500 BC. In the Middle Ages, Lochhausen's location on the salt road to Augsburg helped the village to grow further. In the 19th century, the neighboring communities were merged and finally became districts of Munich in 1942. The village's long history can still be seen in the numerous architectural monuments around the local church, which are listed as an ensemble.
Connection and development
Today, Lochhausen is particularly popular due to its quiet location and good connections to Munich city center: the S3 train stop makes it easy to reach both the Zentrum and the outlying areas. Lochhausen is home to many small detached and terraced houses. The village forms a municipality together with Aubing and Langwied.
