Universitätsviertel - Maxvorstadt
The university quarter is home to the central buildings of Ludwig-Maximilians University and the Technical University Munich. Hence, the cityscape in this area is shaped significantly by students. However, not many of them are able to find suitable housing in this quarter: The university quarter is one of the most central and exclusive neighborhoods in Munich.
Bars, cafés, and modern restaurants line Schelling- and Theresienstraße, which form the heart of the university quarter. In the immediate vicinity you can find the museum quarter, Amalienpassage, and the quarters Altstadt (the historic city center) and Schwabing. A special bonus is the English Garden, which starts on the other side of Ludwigstraße, just a few meters from the main building of LMU. The U-Bahn stations U6/U3 Universität and U2 Theresienstraße connect the university quarter to the public transport network. However, both Odeonsplatz with Feldherrnhalle, which marks the entrance to the historic city center, and Münchner Freiheit, the center of Schwabing's nightlife, can be reached in a few minutes.
The mixture of noble and student flair gives Maxvorstadt its special, lively touch and makes it a popular address for temporary living. The central location near the universities LMU and TU is perfect for those looking for a furnished apartment.
