Location and history
Fürstenfeldbruck is located approx. 31 km west of Munich (Zentrum) and has around 37,000 inhabitants. The town on the Amper takes its name from the combination of the elements Fürstenfeld, which refers to the former Wittelsbach property, and Bruck, which refers to the location on the bridge over the Amper. The area was already populated in the Middle Ages , as it was located on the important salt route of the time. Its numerous historical buildings and its location in the countryside make it a popular destination for tourists. The Fürstenfeld monastery is one of the most popular sights and impresses with buildings in various historical architectural styles and the magnificent monastery church of St. Maria.

Economy and transport links
The economy is still dominated by the German Armed Forces, which is the town's largest employer thanks to the airfield. However, the Fürstenfeldbruck District Hospital and Coca-Cola are also well-known employers in the region. Despite the distance from Munich, the connections are very good: the S4 and S2 trains run every 20 minutes and connect Fürstenfeldbruck with the city center of Munich, which can therefore be reached quickly and easily. In addition, the Bavarian Allgäubahn train stops in Fürstenfeldbruck, providing connections to a large number of destinations in the wider region.
