In this traditional working-class district, there are mainly larger blocks of flats, some of which were built by cooperatives. In Altgiesing, around the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche church, which is still the central recognizable feature of the district, much of the district's traditional structures have been preserved. Not far away, on Tegernseeer Landstraße, is the Parkviertel Giesing, a new quarter that is particularly attractive for young families with over 900 apartments, offices, stores, daycare centers and a park. In general, the district offers many beautiful apartments in good residential areas. In principle, however, you can find pretty much any type of home in Giesing, from detached houses to multi-storey blocks. In addition, Giesing has become much more attractive in recent years due to the renovation and privatization of apartments.
Local recreation
Heading south, you can also reach the Perlach Forest, a large wooded area with extensive cycling and walking trails for relaxing. Although Giesing itself does not offer as many green spaces as some other Munich districts, its immediate proximity to the "Flaucher" recreational area and the Isar floodplains more than make up for this disadvantage. An additional attraction for sports enthusiasts are the training grounds of Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich, both of which are located in Giesing.
